Time & Place
time-thick thought of place dissolve -
salt in murky ocean water,
hermit crabs scuttle
over seaweed and stone,
as moon-bound tides
draw white wave lines
far beyond familiar sand
still shifting
into hills and valleys,
trees imagined in the night,
shadows, faces, places unvisited,
the maybe and the why,
of where, when,
what will turn
the next set of eyes
unlocked from tablets of stone
unwritten on the mountain high,
the unpromised land
of human time,
endlessly moving through
the this then of now.
